V. Open Business:
This was the first meeting of the school year so there was no open business.
VI: New Business:
Total PTO Members: 64
(Approximately 40 members have not been recorded yet.)
B. Box Tops: Leanne reported 5,679 box tops turned in so far for this year, for a total of $567.90. Third grade is in first place by a wide margin of approximately 800 box tops, fourth grade is in second place, and fifth grade in third place. The deadline is Aug 30 so the first submission of box tops will be there in time. Leanne wants to send an announcement before submission to make sure teachers have turned them all in.
C. Student Recognition: The goal was to take up less instructional time and focus more on rewarding all A honor roll students. Tristan has ordered lanyards with school name and hawk logo. Students will receive pins to attach to the lanyards for each nine weeks they make A honor roll and a medal if they get A honor roll all year. There will also be pins awarded for the Spelling Bee, Math Bowl, Tropicana essay winners, and Blue Wahoos trip winners. The students will be called up to the stage during lunch and presented with their lanyard. A honor roll students will also have their picture taken for the Hall of Fame board and will stay up for the year as long as they stay on the honor roll. AB honor roll students will get certificates.
D. Coupon Books: They were delivered on Monday. Packets were sent home to students on Monday or Tuesday. HNMS band is also selling coupon books at the same time, which may hurt our profits.
E. Chamber of Commerce Welcome Breakfast: PTO will be attending a welcome breakfast on 8/26/16 at 7 am at the Navarre Chamber of Commerce.
G. Culver’s Spirit Night: Scheduled for 9/6/16 from 5-8 pm. We have four spirit nights scheduled for this year.
